Can humans get worms from puppies?

A week ago I bought a puppy. When I got it home, I realized it had worms. Today, my neighbor (who has worked in a pet store for years) said the puppy has parvo. My son found some puppy poop on the floor and ate some before I could clean it up. What can happen to my son?

Parasites Symptoms answers:

Take a stool sample to the vet to find out what worms the pup has. Humans can get the same worms but it will take weeks for symptoms to develop and for the human feces to test positive for worms. If the puppy has parvovirus, it needs 24/7 hospitalization if it is to have a chance at survival.

You’ll need to get Drontal or Droncit Plus from your Vet. Yes, people can get tapeworm and your dog got tapeworm from FLEAS. That is an issue you will also have to address. Just sanitize properly and use common hygiene practices.

I’m afraid to tell my mom, its so embarrassing and she’ll freak out. One more thing– I have a one year old puppy.
It not serious but you should still go see a doctor to get it treated. It could lay eggs if there is still any left with in you. If you seem to begin to itch don’t itch. You make get eggs under your finger nail and transfer it to other members of the family.
Do not be embarrassed. Shes your mother and only want to take care of you.

Parasites Symptoms answers:

Combantrin is a brand name of otc worm expellant that comes in tablet form…… Any chemist should be able to help you with information regarding which would be the best to take…… Chemists generally have their own Chemists Brand form of most otc meds that have precisely the same ingredients without the hefty price tag.

Be aware of checking for ingredients that you may be intolerant to also before purchasing as they may be able to offer an alternative.

Fresh garlic is a powerfull natural worm expellant too ……. But personally, i’d rather not have the discomfort of intestinal worms for a nanosecond longer than absolutely necessary.

Tell your friend not to be scared……. As it’s common amongst children ….. Make sure you take a tablet too as the microscopic eggs from the worms can also get airborne……… Which is likely how she caught it.

what percent of humans have parasites?

I’m becoming paranoid…I know that we accidentally digest bugs without notice, but what about parasites? Are they common among us? I also remember watching Monsters Inside Me on Animal Planet and heard that a huge number of us have this parasite that infects our brains which sometimes has us make strange choices in life. So yeah…how many of us have parasites?

Parasites Symptoms answers:

You may want to consider doing something other than watching sensationalized melodramatic “documentaries” about evil brain bugs if it’s making you that paranoid.

To answer your question, though, if you simply want to know what percentage of humans carry some sort of other animal that lives off them, virtually all of us do, and the truth is stranger than you might imagine.

First, and perhaps my favorite, there is a species of mite which lives nowhere except in your eyebrows. They make their living by consuming oil and particulate matter which collects on the hairs of your eyebrows. Ever noticed that the rest of your hair gets oily if you don’t wash it, but your eyebrows tend to stay groomed? That’s why. There’s an entire species of arachnids dedicated to slaving their lives away just to groom your eyebrow hair.

Likewise, there is a species that lives in your eyelashes, doing the same thing.

There is a third species that lives on your face, especially on your forehead. When you lay down to go to sleep at night, they tend to become active and start looking for mating partners. Believe it or not, that’s one of the reasons your face starts itching as you’re trying to fall asleep. It’s a microscopic arachnid orgy on your face. If you’re wondering where they lay the eggs, the answer is “in your pores”, which sometimes causes zits and break outs (that’s why people’s complexion is often worse on their foreheads than other areas of their face… More mites = more eggs in the pores on our foreheads).

Finally, there’s a fairly common demodex mite that likes to live on the rest of human skin, and most people carry it. In dogs, they cause mange, but they usually don’t bother us unless they get completely out of hand.

It should be noted none of these species do us any harm as a matter of course. Even though they live on us, and live off us, their doing so largely seems to be to our benefit, if you don’t count the occasional blemish or dwell on the fact that them living on you means they also die on you, so in a way your entire body is a vast arachnid graveyard (have a good night’s sleep!).

Beyond that, there is a species of nematodes which likes to make its home under our fingernails (I find myself wondering how many kids would stop biting their nails if you told them they were eating tiny worms every time they bit their fingernails), which we also tend not to notice at all.

Getting into more pesky things, there are the usual list of offenders. There are flukes, fleas and ticks, the various lice, intestinal worms, trichinosis, the occasional leech and what not, but virtually all can be avoided with sanitation and hygiene. Infestations start becoming rarer from there.

Some parasites, such as screwfly larvae and guinea worms, can be absolutely Hellish to suffer through, but fortunately they’re uncommon. The guinea worm used to be much more widespread in Africa, but Jimmy Carter vowed he would keep fighting to see the guinea worm driven into extinction before he died, and at this point he’s almost succeeded. Less than 2,000 cases of infection were reported in 2010, with virtually all of them coming from one country (and that country has cut its rate of infection by over 70% since 2007).

Bottom line, unless you’re a parasite yourself, then parasites are something your species probably has to worry about, but humans are pretty well off in the grand scheme of things.

As for brain parasites being common? Not a chance. Your body has multiple defensive layers surrounding the brain for the express purpose of preventing just such a thing, because a parasitic infestation of the brain would certainly be devastating and almost inevitably fatal. That’s not to say it absolutely never happens (there’s toxoplasmosis, certain species of amoeba can infect the brain, etc), but infestation of the brain by any sort of parasite is EXCEPTIONALLY rare.

I think I’ve debunked the theory that humans are like viruses/parasites.?

Humans and viruses share one thing in common. They inflict damage, benefit from it, but contribute nothing in return like a parasite or virus.
They are similar but not the same. Viruses/parasites don’t intentionally kill each other like humans do.
So humans are something different.

Parasites Symptoms answers:

I think the idea that humans are like viruses or parasites is more of an analogy. It was never a real theory, in the scientific sense of the word.

We just happen to overexploit our environment, and our populations grow out of control since we’ve eliminated most predators and figured out how to produce all the food we need. That’s not that different from any other species, though. If the local wolf population declines, for example, the deer population will skyrocket until they eat all the available food and start starving to death (and other species starve as well). Natural factors will eventually bring the population back into balance, but it might take a while. The only difference is that we humans have isolated ourselves from those factors – for the time being. Eventually we’ll probably run out of resources and nature will put us back in our place.

There’s no fundamental difference between us and any other life on the planet. Like I said, it’s just an analogy, and like any analogy, you can only take it so far before it starts to break down.

-Sabbats-

There are eight holidays a year called Sabbats. Four of the eight are major Sabbats known as Fire Festivals. The other four are minor Sabbats that correspond to the seasons.

Fire Festival: Candlemas
Imbolc
February 1st or 2nd
Candlemas is the Feast of Candles and symbolizes the banishment of winter. This Fire Festival is dedicated to burning out the old and bringing in the new. The days are getting longer and the boy god is growing and learning. This is a time of purification, changes, and fertility. Sprout seedlings and care for your animals and their young. The colors of note are lavender and white. Rituals include the lighting of candles (all colors) to symbolize the power of the sun god. Sweep out any negative or stagnant energy. Feast with wine and cakes.

Season of Spring: Spring Equinox
Ostara
March 22nd
Ostara is the time to plant seeds, reconcile differences, and focus on health, rebirth, change, and fertility. It is also a time of dedication and purpose. Rituals include choosing an indoor plant you wish to grow. Choose a plant that best represents what you desire for the year. For instance, plant peppermint for prosperity or aloe vera for health. Make a runic stick for your plant. Choose an appropriate candle, oil, and incense to burn. As the plant grows, so will your wishes.

Fire Festival: Beltane
May Day
May 1st or 2nd
Rejoice that the sun god has reached manhood. This is a time for beauty, wealth, fertility, and union. The festival colors are red and white; make flower bouquets, maypoles, and colored eggs. Rituals include coloring hard boiled eggs and serving them at a Beltane feast. Crack another egg into a glass of water and light a floating candle near the yolk to scry the future. Create brightly colored woven baskets to give to your loved ones.

Season of Summer: Summer Solstice
Litha
June 22nd
Litha is the longest day of the year and is also known as Midsummer’s Day. It is a time to collect magical herbs and store them for winter. Colors are red and yellow. Find field faeries and elves and ask them for their help in achieving your desires. Rituals include walking sky-clad through the garden for fertility. Bathe in a stream at midnight to encourage faeries to approach you. Harvest magical herbs, leaving one third of the plant in insure its growth. Tonight is the night to harvest the mandrake. Create a decorative wreath of fallen feathers.

Fire Festival: Lammas
Lughnassadh
August 1st or 2nd
The days start to shorten. This is the first harvest of fruits and grains. Harvest the remaining magical herbs. This is the Festival of Faeries. Be thankful for the bounty and prepare for autumn. Rituals include feasts with bread as the main course. Decorate your home with fruits and vegetables. Clean your broom and make a point to complete an unfinished project.

Season of Fall: Autumn Equinox
Mabon
September 22nd
This is the time for the second harvest. The veil between worlds grows thin. The goddess is in full bounty while the god ages steadily. Rest and fill your inner emotional well. Honor the rivers and streams. All remaining plants and herbs may be harvested. Colors are orange, red, gold, and brown. Prepare a cornucopia. This is an excellent time to create dolls and poppets. Collect fallen leaves to make a wreath. Toast to the god with cider and cakes. Cast binding spells against negativity.

Fire Festival: Samhain
All Hallow’s Eve
October 31st
This is the time of the final harvest. The god has died and the goddess ripens. The veil between worlds is at its weakest. Witches should dress traditionally in black when sleeping so as to be identified by carousing fey. Rest and honor the spirits. Colors are orange and black. The feast should include the bounty from your harvest. Rituals include decorating with gourds and cornucopias. Sprinkle pumpkin seeds to promote romance. Offer rituals for the persecuted witches of the past and for the tragedy of the Burning Times.

Season of Winter: Winter Solstice
Yule
December 22nd
The rebirth of the sun god and the pledge of the returning sun. This is the shortest day of the year. Colors are red and green. The beginning of the death of winter and for the spring to come to end are the focus points of the festival. This is a time for enlightenment and to increase intelligence. Rituals include the making of holly and ivy wreaths for protection. Kiss under a mistletoe for love. Give gifts to promote harmony of heart.

Parasites Symptoms answers:

Don’t worry, just visit your doctor and he/she will give you worm medicine. You’ll be using it for 2 days of one week maximum. Your pinworms will be history.
Sometimes itchy anus are not always caused by pinworms, diets, nose polyps and etc can also cause itchy anus. So best check out what the cause of your itchiness is. Eating less fiber is also a great cause of itchiness.

You got the vermicularis….
Pinworm infections are contagious. People become infected by unknowingly ingesting microscopic pinworm eggs that can be found on many different surfaces, including:

* bed linens
* towels
* clothing (especially underwear and pajamas)
* toilets
* bathroom fixtures
* food
* drinking glasses
* eating utensils
* toys
* kitchen counters
* desks or lunch tables at school
* sandboxes

The eggs pass into the digestive system and hatch in the small intestine. From the small intestine, pinworm larvae continue their journey to the large intestine, where they live as parasites – their heads attached to the inside wall of the bowel.

About 2 to 4 weeks after a person acquires the pinworm eggs, adult female pinworms begin migrating from the large intestine to the area around the rectum. There, they will lay new pinworm eggs, which trigger itching around the rectum.

When someone scratches the itchy area, microscopic pinworm eggs are transferred to their fingers. Contaminated fingers can then carry pinworm eggs to various surfaces, where they’re able to live for 2 to 3 weeks.

Parasites Symptoms answers:

I doubt it, because a period is just blood lining flowing out of your uterus. Since pinworms only affect your butt (anus) area, it shouldn’t be the problem – of course, unless the pinworms have affected your uterus (which is pretty unlikely.)

I kept on worrying about when my period would ever come. Turns out that a couple of months after I turned 14, I got it. So don’t worry too much. I’ve had friends who got them when they were 15 ~ 17, as well.

Parasites Symptoms answers:

If you were getting pinworms, it 100% positively was not from the slim jims.. You’ve got some other situation going on. Zero possibility that you got pinworm infection from eating slim jims unless you were sticking the slim jim into someplace they shouldn’t have been before eating, or droppng them in the dirt and then eating them. Pinworm infection in someone older than a small child indicates there is a strong source of contamination. So the keyboard is not going to have pinworm eggs on it unless you had pinworm eggs under your fingernails and then used the keyboard. Do you clean your fingernails regularly and shower? Pinworm infection usually comes from the soil where animals have pooped or from really really bad hygiene habits which involve fecal matter under the nails. Anyway, they keyboard is safe, but you should figure out the actual source of your previous pinworm infestation.. It wasn’t slim jims I promise.

Parasites Symptoms answers:

Yes, here you go.
All nasty critters.
Very rare in the USA, with the exception of folk with AIDS.

PHASHMIDIA

1. Rat Lung worm

Angiostrongylus cantonensis: the rat lung worm is a nematode
producing human eosinophilic meningoencephalitis.

CESTODIA

2. Hydatidosis

Echinococcus granulosus: hydatidosis is caused by the larval stage of E.granulosus.
After ingestion of eggs the onchospheres penetrate the intestinal mucosa
and reach host organs (mainly liver and lung) where they encyst within a week
reaching 1 cm in diameter in about 5 months.

3. Tenia

Taenia solium (cysticercosis): the cysticercus appears as a white opalescent vescicle,
ovoid to round, measuring 8-15 mm by 5-8 containing only one protoscolex.
Many organs may be infected (subcutaneous tissue, brain, eye, muscles).

Taenia multiceps: dogs are the definitive host: sheep, other mammals and,
rarely, man are infected by eating embryonated eggs.
World-wide distribution. The larvae penetrate via oral route and develop
to the coenurus stage in host’s tissues.

SPOROZOIA

4. Toxoplasmosis

T. gondii: T.gondii encephalitis (TE) is the most common cerebral
opportunistic infection in patients with AIDS.
The typical lesion is an ipodense focal area with ring
contrast-enhancement and edema.
(CT scan of a toxoplasmic encephalitis).

ZOOMASTIGOPHORIA

5. African sleeping sickness-

tryp2a: T.b.gambiense and rhodesiense: about 20.000 cases
occur annually in the endemic areas.
The African trypanosomiasis is transmitted
by several species of tse-tse flies (Glossina spp.).

LOBOSIA

6. CNS AMOEBIA

Acanthamoeba spp.: free living amoebae of the Acanthamoeba genus
cause two clinical syndrome:
1) Granulomatous amoebic encephalitis (GAE)
2) Subacute and chronic amoebic keratitis
A disseminated form of GAE is described in individuals with the Acquired
Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS)
Several species of Acanthamoeba have been identified:
A.castellani, A.culberstoni, A.polyphaga, A.zhysodes, A.hatchetti,
A.astronyxis, A.palestinensis.
(Trophozoites, trichrome stain).

Hi I am anemic and asthmatic like you. If you don’t take your iron it can cause your anemia to make you feel light or fuzzy headed, along with inhalers if you use too much. How many puffs do you use?
Ask your doctor next time you see him/her.

Parasites Symptoms answers:

The pinworms don’t want your shingles medication, no. Having pinworms shouldn’t affect your shingles treatment. (The pinworms don’t live in the right place for that. They live near your anus whereas the shingles medication will be absorbed further up.)

Incidentally, iron deficiency is not normally a symptom of pinworm infection. You’re probably thinking of a different parasite. Hookworms cause iron deficiency because they take blood from the host.

Parasites Symptoms answers:

Pinworms live off of the nutrients in your digestive tract. From what I know you can eat like normal the parasite won’t cause any weight loss or inhibit any weight gain. If you eat a lot you’ll gain alot and vice versa.

Pinworms are a parasite found in the digestive tract and symptoms are worst at night when the female worms are most active and will crawl out of the anus to lay its eggs causing itching around the anus.

(If you have this please make sure you wash your hands constantly to prevent spreading it to others).

A doctor can prescribe treatment to rid the pinworms.

I think you are thinking of a tapeworm, the story with that is people ingest the tapeworm eggs and they could eat and not gain weight cause the tape worm was absorbing everything. It’s also a parasite but tapeworms can grow super long in your intestines and then multiply and it just gets gross.

Parasites Symptoms answers:

Don’t be embarrassed to tell your parents. This can happen to anyone. But you really must because all you need to do is take one single pill that kills the worms. You can only get it by prescription, so your parent will have to call the doctor. More than likely, the dr. Can just call in the prescription to the pharmacy. It’s not going to just go away on its own. Just tell them as soon as possible. It’s going to be ok.

Parasites Symptoms answers:

If you can see them in your pants you must be quite infected with them. You need to go to a doctor and get some tablets, or you can go to the chemist/pharmacy and get some tablets there. Dont just leave them to go away, because they wont! You need to get it treated.

Is this as symptom of bacterial infection or parasites in tropical fish?

Parasites Symptoms answers:

Clear or white excrement can be a sign of an internal bacterial infection and/or an internal parasite infection. Most commonly it is a bacterial infection. What causes the coloration is the intestines trying to fight off the invader (bacterial, parasite, or other) by creating excessive mucus. This is clear to white. White blood cells will attack an infection and may color the clear mucus more white, or puss from the infection can add some coloration. It is basically a fish equivalent of a runny nose. Over medication or a reaction to other elements can cause this as well. A fish not eating properly, or at all, might also have clear poop.

So clear poop is a sign something is wrong and you need to take it into account with other behavior or problems to determine the actual cause.

Red can be from the coloring of the food, or something else like bacteria or parasite causing bleeding. If it was some sort of internal infection it would be more streaked than solid.

Seeking advice for food-borne illness lasting 3 weeks, at what point do I need to seek emergency medical help?

I am 30 years old. 3 weeks ago went to Tiajuana, 2 days after returning became very ill. Violent diahrrea, stomach cramps, low-grade fever etc. Took antibiotics (Cypro) for 5 days and finished them. Today (20 days later) I still have abdominal pain (now on the lower right side of stomach that comes and goes), cramping, fatigue, diahrrea comes and goes, changes in stool, can only eat watered down soup and crackers. If I try to eat anything else become miserable. Waiting on the results of parasite infection test. When would I need to seek emergency help? Any idea what type of parasidic infection would cause above symptoms? I do have stomach problems (for the past 8 years) take aciphex and zantac daily.
Parasites Symptoms answers:

I don’t know if ER is the place, unless you feel really bad and you think you need to cal 911. But you definitely need to go to a different doctor, or to the same doctor, just call up the clininc and say that you are feeling very sick and you need help now.

Antibiotics kill bacterial, but don’t kill virused. You might be a having a viral infection. There was a lot of talk about stomach flu in my area (No CA) about a couple of years ago. People say it is quite miserable. I’m not sure how that was cured, or if your sympthoms exactly correspond.

I hope you get well soon.

Considering all of these are consumers and our not consumed themselves, i would say the effect would be minimal. However, depending on the number of currently integreted parasites i would say that populations of fish, birds, insects and some mammals would greatly increase. Also rat population would rise.

This article has an interesting take on what to do to get rid of worms and what over the counter antiparasitic drugs you can very easely find.

The author is a naturopath, but she is NOT recommending the traditional anti parasitic herbs. (suprising, no ?)

It is said that different treatments, herbs and foods will get rid of only a specific kinds of parasites. It is possible to you will need to try diffent drugs and herbs to compelty deworm yourself.

Parasites—How Do You Know if You Have Worms and What to Do About Them

By Denice Moffat

I had a client a while back who had this question for me: “I’ve noticed that I’ve been getting menstrual cramps the last few months and I don’t usually have them. Can you tell me what you think it is?”

It was determined, strangely or not so strangely enough, that the cause of those menstrual cramps was parasites! And this isn’t the only disease caused, in part, by parasites. Read on. . .

I recommend for her, and for you, that you worm both your pets and yourselves about twice a year.

I’ve tried natural wormers over the years–actually LOTS of natural wormers such as: garlic, cloves, black walnut, cilantro, wormwood, pumpkin seeds, pomegranate, diatomaceous earth, Rascal, Zymex, Vermifuge, several other natural wormer formulas and homeopathics, but nothing seems that effective. I’ve even tried the Hulda Clarke “Zapper” (which does not work by the way, because the voltage of the thing is not strong enough to penetrate the fecal material within the bowels–save your money by not purchasing or building one!) I am sorry to report (as a naturopath) that studies show these herbal treatments are only about 20% effective. The Certified Organic organization says when all else fails, use ivermectin (which is not organic in any way), but have you seen the list of side affects to that particular product? Three pages long!

I will say that when a client comes to me, I ask them if they have any cravings. One sure sign they are “wormy” is when they tell me they crave cloves. Clove oil has been shown to penetrate the egg and kill it where the other herbs only kill the adults. Herbs that kill parasites are often found in herbal cancer formulas because parasites are often a core cause of that particular disease.

One reason why I push so much for routine worming is that the medical field often misses this diagnosis–especially if you don’t have a history of traveling outside the United States where parasites are often a big issue. I love working in my garden and often I am an open-mouth breather when I’m working up the soil. We also live in a windy area and dirt from the wheat and grass fields is often in the air. I try to wash my hands frequently, but anyone who works in the dirt knows that it’s nearly impossible to keep from getting it on you.

Another reason why I stay on top of the worm situation is that worms carry viruses into our body. Some of these viruses can cause cancer, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, and a host of other horrid diseases.

In my opinion, the safest, cheapest, easiest, most effective way to worm yourself and your pets of the most common worms (roundworms–also called strongyles, thread worms, pinworms, ascarids) is to go to the local feed store and get a bottle of horse or dog roundwormer–Equi-Phar, ProTal, Strongid-T, and Nemex are all trade names of Pyrantel Pamoate. I say this because when you ask your doctor for a wormer, they usually tell you there is no need for you to be wormed. Make sure it says Pyrantel Pamoate on the label and nothing else added. Combination wormers are not always needed and not always safe.

Amazon.com Widgets

Dosage: Use the dose of 5-10 mg/kilogram bodyweight (about 1 ml/5 pounds) of bodyweight for dogs and humans and 1 ½ ml/5 pounds for cats. In layman’s terms that is 1 teaspoon per 25 pounds. If you are not good at math, you’ll want to double-check that you are taking the correct dosage. Although this wormer is so safe that you can take 40 times the amount with no harmful side effects, you don’t want to under dose. And, “If a little is good, a LOT is not necessary better.”

One dose is all it takes if you are worming twice a year, but you may have to give a second dose 7-10 days after the first dose for the initial worming. I use this twice a year for myself as I have had a history of heart palpitations (another symptom associated with parasites.) The worms will be dead within 20 minutes. You won’t feel anything and should have no side-effects. Occasionally I see a pet get nauseated with an overdose, but in 30 years, I have never seen any other side-effect. No, you won’t likely see them pass in your stool.

Will store-bought wormer work the same? No. Many stores still carry Piperazine wormer which has been so overused that it is no longer an effective wormer. Piperazine is often marketed as a “monthly” wormer in the pet sections. I one saw a litter of puppies in full seizure who had just been wormed that week with piperazine. I immediately wormed them with Pyrantel and the worms just flowed out their little rectums and the seizures stopped within 20 minutes. It was incredible to watch!

If the product you purchase contains a tapeworm medicine (like clorpyriphos which is an organophosphate wormer), that may cause some serious side affects. Never use these store bought wormers on pregnant animals. The animal’s guts can contract so strongly to pass the worms that they can rupture their uterus and die. Always get tapeworm medicine from your doctor or veterinarian as we carry much safer brands than the grocery or feed stores do.

How do you get worms? We pick up worms from some of the things we eat, from the dirt, and from the dust we breathe in. Eating dirt is a sign of iron deficiency. We should talk if you are doing that. . . I got pin worms when I was a little girl by eating a mud pie (my friend said she’d give me a nickel if I did it!) Pinworms are the equivalent of cat and dog roundworms, only they are a different species of worm so are not passed from us to them and vice-versa. See more on that below.

Most adults (pets and people) have enough enzymes in their mouths to break down most of the eggs coming in through our mouths and nose, our stomach acids break down even more, but some eggs get by both of those back-up systems where they hatch, find a home, and grow into adults within about 10-14 days in our small intestine. After 14 days, these adult parasites are producing more eggs–millions of them in their lifetime. Yuk!

We see worms most commonly in baby animals and humans because their salivary enzymes are not as strong, the hydrochloric stomach acids have not been totally developed yet, and because they have oral fixations and put lots of things into their mouths–they ingest more dirt than adults. Their immune systems cannot keep up with that. The “load” (number of worms) gets so great in the small intestine that it spills over into the large intestine and into the stomach. This is why it is so common to see babies either vomit worms or poop them out. Because adults have a better immune system, the load is controlled and the worms like the environment of the small intestine, so that is where they stay. We may still have worms, but it is not as evident as it was when we were young children (or pets under a year of age.)

How do you know if you should take a wormer?

Signs of roundworms include, fevers, cough, wheezing, stomach problems, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal cramping, appendicitis, gas, bloating, increased cramping (menstrual), heart palpitations, pain in the lower right quadrant that comes and goes (spasms in the ileocecal valve), itchy anus’, dry lusterless hair with split ends, seizures, pica appetite (often for sugar), clear mucous strands in the stool (yes you should be looking at it each time you go! And yes, I will ask you what it looks like if you ever consult with me.) People and animals with lots of parasites also have big bellies and lots of diameter below the belly button caused from the intestines losing their tone. Most times worms can be diagnosed by looking at the bowel contents under a microscope or doing a blood test, but not always. Protozooal parasites such as giardia are often missed.

Can I get roundworms and tapeworms from my pets?

Good question, and I get that a lot. If you worm your pets regularly, you won’t have this problem. Dog and cat worms are different than most human worms. There are only a few species of worms that are zoonotic (passed from your dogs and cats to you)–one of those is Toxoplasma cati, which is passed to the human from cat feces and causes blindness in children. But, the Pyrantel Pamoate kills that and if you clean the litter box every day, the probability of that being passed is nearly nil. Giardia lamblia, an intestinal protozoal parasite can be passed to you through your pet as well, but mostly humans get Giardia from drinking contaminated water or eating contaminated lettuce or water chestnuts. Mange is NOT passed from animals to humans and neither are head lice or public lice. Tapeworms are not transferred from dogs and cats to people (but they are from fish and some farm animals). Tapeworms are treated with different drugs than roundworms.

Ring worm is not actually a parasitic worm. It is really a fungus and that, too, can be passed from your pets to you. We have fantastic homeopathic drops for that, but keeping the area scrubbed and applying iodine to it can help. Also keeping your immune system and that of your pet healthy with good high-quality foods helps immensely.

Well, that’s worms in a nutshell (or in this case, an intestine!) Appetizing, eh?

They are considered an alkalinizer : they help to keep the body less acid and less inviting for parasites. They also help detoxify the blood.

Carrots also contain cleansing minerals chlorine and sulphur.

Do NOT cook the carrots – you will have to eat them raw to fight parasites. Cooked vegetables will change the molule structure and the nutrients won’t be effective.

Carrots and Parasite Cleanse

Eating carrots is an excellent natural home remedy against parasites. Here are two ways to take the carrots for parasite cleaning :

Grate the carrots and serve as a salad. This is a good idea for children. It works best if you serve in the morning, on an empty stomach. Wait a few hours before eating. Or you could a carrot fasting – only eat carrots and drink water for a few days if you are up to it !

Fruits and vegetable are a great source of hydrogen peroxide, and the best way to get the peroxide out of them, is to juice them. Drink a fresh glass of carrot juice to get even more benefits from your carrots. They have to be freshly squeezed and drink immediately. Do not wait more than 10 minutes before drinking.

Drinking fresh carrot juice is a way to intake oxygen – and parasites HATE that.

Good to know !

Garlic has been used by therapists all around the world for centuries. It is documented to treat everything from the simple flu to severe bacterial infections.

Garlic and Parasite Cleanse : Garlic will fight parasites in more ways than one :

Garlic kills parasites, helps your body detoxify, gently helps your bowel movement, and acts also as an anti oxidant.

Garlic Cleanse and Garlic Parasite Cleanse

You could peel the clove and swallow it whole, but the best way to get the most out of the garlic is to crush it before eating. Or simply chew on it !

If you crush it before, it is important to ingest right away. Do not wait more than 15 minutes.

As soon as you break open the clove, that is when it is the most effective. That’s when you will get the allicin. It breaks down into other products after that.

You could also crush it and mix in a teaspoon of honey. You wont have to actually chew it this way.

<a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NICRIC?ie=UTF8&tag=humanparasitesymptoms-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000NICRIC"rel="nofollow">or- avoid the taste all together and buy garlic in capsules

Does Garlic Kill Parasites ?

Garlic is one of the best homemade human intestinal parasite cleanse remedy. Parasites will respond differently to different herbs and products, but garlic is most effective against threadworms or pinworms.

It is even possible to use garlic in your enema water.

Here is a perfect example at this link :

<a href="http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=1635565#i" target="_blank"rel="nofollow">curezone forum

This woman tells her story at this forum about her worm infestation and how she got rid of them with garlic ! Pretty graphic story… I went and chewed on garlic after reading that…

It is believed that if a person is very nervous at the full moon, they may have worms and or parasites… because worms get busy during a full moon!

Parasite Cleanse and the Full Moon

Some will say to start you parasite cleanse a week before a full moon, and some will say to start at the time of the full moon.

They say that the cleansing will be more effective since the parasites won’t be hiding as much.

Whatever you do make sure you are taking your parasite cleanse during a full moon – It is believed that this is when they are awake and laying their eggs.

You want to be taking your anti-parasites herbs while the parasites are laying their eggs. You absolutely want to kill the eggs for the cleansing to be succesful.

Whether you believe in the effects of the full moon on parasites or not, it might be worth extending your treatment or waiting a few more days to start.

You know, just to be sure…

Pinworms are the most common type of worm found in the human body. It is the most important parasite infection in America and Europe today.

Pinworms are very commonly found in children, but adults can be easily infected too.

Also known as seatworms and thead worms.

It is possible to see the adult pinworm with your eyes, but you would need a microscope to see the eggs.

How do Pinworms Enter the Body ?

Pinworms live inside the colon but exit to lay their eggs on the outside of the host’s body, around the anus. The female worm lays her eggs during nighttime, causing the host to scratch, thus transporting the eggs to infect a new person, or reinfect the host.

When the host scratches himself, the microscopic eggs get stuck underneath the fingernails and then find their way back into the human body.

Pinworms enter the body by swallowing or inhaling the eggs. The eggs are very resiliant and can live on your skin, cloths and toys for example, for up to two weeks!

A parasite gets inside your body. Parasites eats, lays eggs and secretes inside your body.

How do parasites get their food ?

How do parasites eat ?

Depending on the kind, parasites will eat different things. Many (most of them) thrive off certain types of food, from dairy to sugar to proteins. These parasites live off the food that goes into your body.

the dwarftapeworm

If you crave sweets and dairy, it might be a sign that you have parasites. The parasites want to eat !

Mainly found in the digestive tract, they can also be found in the liver as well as throughout the body. No organ within your body is immune to parasites, in reality.

Other parasites actually get their nutrition directly from the cells of the body. They feed off those cells, and make you sick. They can literally attach themselves anywhere and suck nutrition out of the cells.

These parasites are perhaps the most dangerous because they can travel to places in the body where they can do a lot more damage than a parasite living solely in the digestive tract.

Parasites take all your good nutrients and you get the scraps and leftovers. How do parasites get their food ? They take yours. They grow healthy and fat while your body starves for nutrition.

And these visitors can subside and exist in the human body for anywhere in the upwards of 10, 20 or even 30 years.

I put all of Dr. Clark important books and Dr. Hulda Clark parasites cleansing products on this page so you can refer when needed. Looking one by one through Amazon can be overwhelming….

Dr. Hulda Clark was a naturopath and practitioner of alternative medicine.

Her research lead her to concentrate on two specific fields :

parasites

toxins

She claimed that all diseases was caused by these 2 factors.

She also claimed that we could cure cancer by fighting parasites and toxins, wich surrounded her with a lot of controversy (to say the least !)

Lucky for us, her research on parasites and how to kill parasites with herbs are much better accepted than her claims on cancer. She is refered to by herbalists and health practitioners around the world, and most natural products made of herbs for fighting parasites are based on Dr. Hulda Clark’s research.

Dr. Clark passed away September 3, 2009. She was 80 years old

Dr. Hulda Clark Books

“The Cure for All Diseases” is by far the most famous :

Last time I checked, there was over 140 comments for this book on Amazon.

Most of the book is about the relevance of parasites and our health problems.

This is THE reference on parasites and health.

Dr. Hulda Clark Parasites Cleansing Products

It is very overwhelming to navigate through all her different products and recommendations when looking through internet. There is a whole buffet of treatments, capsules, tinctures and herbs with her name on them.

The basic cleansing protocol from Hulda Clark includes 4 health improvement programs :

colon cleanse

parasite cleanse

kidney cleanse

liver cleanse

Amazon.com Widgets

The basic would be to do just 1 and 2. This is the recommended minimum to get rid of parasites. You could also just do the ParaZap if you think you have parasites, but it’s just so much better to do a whole cleansing at the same time.

Whatever you chose to do, it is not recommended to do the liver cleanse or kidney cleanse without doing the colon and parasites cleansing first.

CLARKIA Parasites Cleanse

Clarkia is a confusing product and a little misleading, because it is NOT endorsed by doctor Clark herself.

It is directly inspired by her research. They mix Dr. Clark’s parasite cleanse in ONE convinent tincture.

Clarkia is an alcohol based tincture that contains

Black Walnut Green Hull

Cloves

Wormwood,

The three herbs recommended by Dr. Hulda Clark for the parasite cleanses, all in one bottle.

Hulda Clark Zapper

The Zapper is Dr. Hulda Clark most important discovery.

Acording to her book The most effective way to rid parasites is with herbs and her Dr Clark Digital Frequency Zapper, (Zapper Digital).

Tuned to the specific frequency of the parasite (included in CAFL frequency book). Read Dr Hulda Clark “A cure for all diseases” where the various frequencies of parasites is explained, and how Dr Hulda Clark tuned her first prototype Digital Zapper to specific frequencies and destroyed them within the body.

Black walnut is known and used around the world for its good effects on the intestines.

Ancient Greeks and Romans employed Black Walnut Hull to encourage intestinal health and good microbial activity. Asian cultures have also used the core and the green hull to help promote purifying of the intestines.

Walnuts are used also to promote weight loss and enhance overall health. The most beneficial effects may be linked to their high content of Omega-3 polyunsaturated fats, which we know now that they are essential for the good functioning of our bodies. Omega-3 fatty acids, which are also called linolenic acid (ALA). A high intake of ALA protects against heart attack and it is able to burn excessive toxins and fatty materials, and helps balance sugar levels.

Black walnut also contains sterols, tannins and iodine

Black Walnut Parasite Cleanse

Black walnut and iodine :

The dried out and ground green hull of the Black Walnut contains tannin. Tannin is an organic iodine that is essential to combat bacteria and help the detoxification process. Black walnut helps to oxygenate the blood and make the body less favorable to any kind of parasites and bacteria.

Any natural parasite cleanse will have black walnut as an ingredient. Many manufacturer will refer to Dr. Clarks reseach. She recommends using black walnut, but also wormwood and cloves.

Dr. Hulda Clark claims that a parasite cleanse must contain those three herbs to be effective. Black walnut, wormwood and cloves must be taken togheter to be effective.

Where to buy a Black Walnut Parasite Cleanse

Amazon is always a trusted source to buy online.

It is not (obviously) a medical book, but it is well-documented and researched about all aspects of…poop. Culture, humor and history about a the most universal subject !

Let’s get philosophical about poop !

It’s the one thing you have in common with me, with Einstein, with Ghandi, with Caesar, with Moses. Poop Culture explores why the most universal human experience is nevertheless the source of endless shame, embarrassment, and angst — and the serious issues that are ignored because we’re just too uncomfortable to discuss them. AMAZON

Go see on Amazon – People are really going out of their way to leave comments there

With universal appeal (everyone poops, after all), this witty, illustrated description of over two dozen dookies (each with a medical explanation written by a doctor) details what one can learn about health and well-being by studying what’s in the bowl.

A floater?

It’s probably due to a buildup of gas.

Now think back on last night’s dinner, a burrito perhaps? . . .

All the greatest hits are here: The Log Jam, The Glass Shard, The Deja Poo, The Hanging Chad . . . the list goes on. Sidebars, trivia, over 60 euphemisms for number 2, and unusual case histories all make this the ultimate bathroom reader. Who knew you could learn so much from your poo?

What is Diatomaceous Earth ?

Diatomaceous (die-uh-toe-may-shus) earth is the skeletal remains of a plant called diatoms. Diatoms are a type of hard-shelled algae. These plants live in water and serve as food for aquatic life. It is crumbled finely and it looks very much like… dirt.

In its raw form diatomaceous earth contains 80% silica, 10% metal oxides (calcium, magnesium, aluminum), and 10% moisture.

Food grade DE is purified with acids and rewashed removing the mineral oxides and leaving behind nearly pure silica.

Diatomaceous earth is sometime refered to simply as DE. (Who can pronounce it anyway ?) I also seen it under the name “Fossil Shell Flour” and “Fossilized Phytoplankton Powder“. Since it contains mostly silica, it is sometimes confused with silica supplements.

Diatomaceous Earth for Humans too ?

Yes, absolutely.

Diatomaceous earth is for human consummation too. You probably ate some without even knowing it. It has been used mixed with normal flour into bakery to stretch the flour. You can find it also in your toothpaste.

You need to get a Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth . Perma-Guard (or Permaguard) is the type most often used in US agriculture for grain storage, and as feed supplement.

Do not get the one that is made for swimming pools filters. That one is heated with added chemicals.

You can sometime find it in herbal supplement stores under different brand names. It is also found under the name supplement silica.

Diatomaceous Earth and Parasites

DE is commonly fed to pets as a dewormer and parasite cleans. But YES, it works great to get rid of tapeworms in humans.

Mix 1 to 2 tablespoon mix with any liquid and drink up to get ride of tapeworms. Use everyday till you see the results, usually around 3-4 days. For a real “intestinal flush” you should use every day for up to 3 months.

Some people drink this every day. Be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day.

Diatomaceaous earth cuts up human intestinal parasites – literally.

The DE can be compared to tiny shards of glass. It is perfectly safe for our human intestines, but when parasites crawl through it, the DE dehydrates them. If the parasites ingest the DE it cuts them up from the inside.

You can also find DE in a parasite cleanse.

The only parasite cleanse that has DE listed in their ingredients (that I know of) is PARATREX. You can get more info on their website. The advantage of taking it as a supplement is that the DE is used in conjunction with other herbs to kill all sorts of parasites, not just tapeworms.

How to use Diatomaceous Earth for Humans

Diatomaceous Earth for Parasites Cleansing

1 to 2 tablespoon of DE to a glass of water or juice (or any liquid)

stir and drink up !

Since it has no taste really, it can be mixed with anything you can think of : milkshakes, smoothies, oatmeal. I even heard of someone who puts in his coffee !

This is the best way to be used as a parasite cleans.

BUT – if you want more of the benefits of silica, this is what you do

Diatomacous Earth for Silica Benefits

This method assures your body absorbs the most of the silica and can also make your little bag last for years. It is the most economical way to use your precious diatomaceous earth.

1 tablespoon

1 gallon of water (3.75 litres of water)

Put one tablespoon of silica in your gallon of water ( I use a smaller water bottle, it’s more practicle) and just let it settle. The DE will then sit at the bottom, and just leave it there.

Take little sips throughout the day. When the water levels gets too low, just add water. Let the mud deposit in the bottom, it is slowly delivering the silica. You could do that on and on for years without changing the DE, but most people change it every few months.

You do NOT need to keep in the refrigerator, but you can if you want to.
Do not add anything else (like juice or sugar) If you want to change the taste, pour yourself a glass first and add juice or whatever to your liking.

DE will be more effective if you add it to the water and let it settle. You will get more of the benefits of silica this way.

Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade – Human Side Effects

There is NO known dangerous side effects to ingesting diatomaceous earth. It is absolutely not toxic.

The only safety precaution would be to not breath in the dust for a prolonged period. it also dries up the skin when you touch it. (not dangerous at all, it can just be unpleasant if you touch with your fingers)

Test for Tapeworm

Take about 1/3 tablespoon 2-3 times per day of cayenne powder. Take the cayenne pepper every day and after a few days, it is possible that you will see little white pieces in your stool. They look a lot like rice. These pieces are little parts of tapeworm.

You can mix the cayenne pepper with anything you want. A popular recipe is to with mix lemon juice and maple syrup.

Parasites hate all kinds of spicy foods.

** Cayenne pepper won’t get rid of all the tapeworms, and cayenne pepper WILL NOT kill the parasite eggs. Use cayenne pepper as your tapeworm test. And you might have other kinds of parasites too, so you will have to consider a parasite cleanse.

The author (Steve Meyerowitz) gets really specific about different nutrients but still keeps it simple for us non-fasting-professionals.

A recommended read for anybody who is intersted in detoxing and fasting. To undersand what is really going on in your body when you are feeling hungry for example, will help you stay focused.

milk and dairy foods

gluten and wheat products

peanuts and cashews

These are all foods that will encourage parasites to feel at home.

Antibiotics are also responsible for making you more vulnerable to parasites. Antibiotic kill bad AND good bacteria that you need to protect your intestines.

Foods To Kill and Prevent Parasites

You can make your “insides” a little less inviting to the little creatures by eating more of

carrots

sweet potatoes

spinach

cantaloupe

squash

rice products

High vitamin-C and antioxidant foods such as

oranges

broccoli

strawberries

melons

Brussels sprouts

Pumpkin seeds, garlic, calmyrna figs, pomegranates, cranberry juice, and apple cider vinegar are good foods to include in your diet to control parasites. Parasitic infections set in when the body is alkaline.

Keeping the intestines slightly acidic may help prevent and treat an infection. Cranberry juice or diluted apple cider vinegar (2 tablespoons to eight ounces of water) works well for this.

Wormwood Parasites Cleanse: Does Wormwood Kill Worms ?

Wormwood is still used today as a powerful key ingredient to fight intestinal parasites like pinworms and roundworms.

Wormwood herbs contain bitter components known as absinthin and anabsinthin, both known to expedite the digestive process.

Wormwood herbs only kills harmful parasites. (not to be confused with bacteria – wormwood doesnt harm the good bacteria ) It increases stomach acid naturally, improving digestion and the absorption of nutrients. It also eases bloating and can help the body return to full vitality after being sick.

Wormwood can be used also for parasites in dogs in cats.

Wormwood is used on the same way in psychic and spiritual work : to push away evil ! Wormwood herbs carried at the waist is said to be protective. Many believe than hanging a bag of wormwood herbs will prevent accidents. It is commonly burned on charcoal to call up helpful spirits

Wormwood and Absinthe

Artemisia absinthium is a specific kind of wormwood that will produce wormwood oil that contains “thujone” This thujone is held responsible for the drug effects that are related to absinthe. It is said to alter the mind and induce visions

Absinthe was used in the 19th century in France by poets and artists. It was banned in 1915 in most countries around the world, classified as a narcotic

Since better understanding of regulations and the absinth itself, it was re legalized almost 100 years after (in 2007 for the USA)

Does absinth enhance creativity and inspiration ? To this day, some say yes, and other say no. But this drink still caries a lot of history and mystery.
